Main Display at Asian American Heritage Month April,

1999, 18 x 24 Acrylic on Canvas
This was
my senior project back in high school. It displays cool
and warm colors in a variable scenic arrangement of
phantasmal forms and human-like figures. The battlefield
is set with lightning strikes in the background and
a bloody assemble of ogres and humans lying over vast
treasures. The sorcerer that rides the dragon controls
the lightning and a warrior on a Pegasus heads to join
the battle.

1999, 18 x 24 Charcoal on Drawing Paper
This was
one of my first attempts with Charcoal as a medium.
I took the image from a magazine ad about perfume. The
original was a photograph on a standard size page. I
used the grid system to give it its closest realism.

1999, 18 x 24 Prisma Colors
on Black Drawing Paper
One of my
first attempt with Prisma Colors. I wanted to blend
most of the colors using the sun-light source on the
water. On the left side is a canyon where I used the
shadows of the canyon to bring out the colors.

Asian American Heritage Month
Main Art Display, 2002
|
 |
|

This was
my very first gallery showcasing my previous artwork
as the main display, and what better way to do it than
at your own alma mater. I had two glass displays in
the center of the Calpoly library as a featured Asian
American artist during the Asian American Heritage Month.
For the first time in life I was the main display. I
was finally recognized as an artist.
This was
a big stepping stone for me. It feels like all my hard
work and dedication finally paid off. I was asked by
Calpoly and the Asian Pacific Islander Student Center
to participate the previous month. Do I consider myself
a great artist? Not close, not yet. But hopefully one
day I will be be. TekRebel Designs. Designing the future...
and everything beyond...
