TEKSI

DISCLAIMER: Pepsi and its affiliates are in no way associated with TekRebel Designs. Production of Teksi was for educational purposes at California Polytechnic University: Pomona. It was never marketed, advertised, or sold for profit on any economical market. TekRebel Designs does retain graphic copyrights and all other applicable ownership rights.

The Teksi Project was a class assignment. We were to take an existing logo or product and design a new look for it for marketability purposes. The class was given a wide range of options even including incorporating our own individualistic styles into the design. I chose the existing Pepsi logo and decided to TekRebelize it. I gave the new logo a TekRebel style with a chrome background and some hard beveled edges. I duplicated all the nutritional facts and barcode with the same exact fonts and Photoshopped them in.

I first tried to duplicate the original design of Pepsi in Photoshop 7.0. I got as close as I could to the font, size, and tracking. The circle swirl is not exactly the same, it's actually rotated at a different angle. The shadow on the circle swirl is also as close as I could possibly get it to.

To turn concept into product, I bought some acetate printer paper that can be found in any electronic computer store. With that I printed my design and put a regular white piece of paper behind the transparency to bring out the design colors. With that it created a sheen found in any 20 oz beverage. And thus Teksi was created...

Unfortunately I only took webcam pictures of the finished product before turning it in.
